BLUE HORSE SERIES

I met a real cowboy one day that took one look at me and said, "You don't know a damn thing about a horse!" I thought he was so rude and arrogant, but it stuck with me and the quest to learn. It just so happened that Buck Brannaman, the true "horse whisperer", had just released a documentary called "Buck" and it was debuting in San Diego. I went and it was fascinating. "It's not people with horse problems, it's horses with people problems."

The horse teaches us valuable lessons on how we interact with each other. The labyrinth is the message of the galaxies, a spiritual journey toward the center of our deepest self to then bring this wisdom out to the world. Nature reminds us continually of this spiraling motion.

This was the first painting of the "Blue Horse" series. The couple is embraced and the woman is pregnant. The horse symbolizing how you can run and run (red is painted as heat around its legs), but at some point you have to stop and join up. I included a sperm in the stone at the throat of the horse. The Throat Chakra allows us to communicate our thoughts and feelings. It is directly connected to the ability to express inner creativity. The color associated with it is blue. Blue is the symbol of inspiration, devotion, infinity and religious goals. There are storm clouds brewing in the distance because even in the desert, there comes a time of refreshing and renewal. From this first piece, my paintings evolved and I am grateful to the cowboy!
